Position Overview

As a Senior Tax Accountant at 100+ Accounting Inc., you will play a key role in delivering tax services across individuals, privately-held corporations and large enterprises. You will handle tax compliance and planning for both personal and corporate clients. You will bring expertise in industry-specific tax incentives — notably the Canadian SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) credit program. Your responsibilities will also include audit and review services. You will collaborate with senior leadership, liaise with clients, and provide high-value strategic tax advice.

Reporting to the Tax Director, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely tax deliverables, as well as building relationships with clients and internal teams to support growth in the tax practice.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in catering to the diverse needs of corporations, small businesses, large enterprises, non-profit organizations, and international businesses. Experience with personal accounting for business owners is considered a valuable asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review personal tax returns for individuals, including business owners, professionals (e.g., doctors, lawyers, engineers), and high-net-worth clients
  • Lead corporate tax compliance and planning for small/medium-sized entities and large enterprise clients (including multi-entity and cross-border structures)
  • Manage and deliver SR&ED credit filings and advisory services: identify eligible projects, prepare technical and financial documentation, liaise with CRA/Innovation, Science & Economic Development Canada (ISED) and other agencies
  • Provide tax advisory services, including corporate reorganizations, ownership changes, estate planning tax implications, cross-border issues, and tax structuring for growth and investment
  • Liaise with clients, internal teams and external advisors (legal, valuation, audit) to integrate tax services with broader financial strategies
  • Maintain current knowledge of tax legislation, regulations (including CRA, federal and provincial), and SR&ED program changes; proactively recommend enhancements to client service
  • Drive continuous improvement in tax processes and documentation standards; mentor junior tax staff and contribute to team-based growth

Main Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (or equivalent) in Canada – tax specialization 
  • Provincial or territorial licence to provide services to the “public” - such as LPA (Licensed Public Accountant) - PAL (Public Accounting License/Licensee)
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or a large-scale tax practice covering both individuals and corporations; experience with large enterprises is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated experience in SR&ED program — preparation, submission, and advisory for eligible corporations
  • Solid working knowledge of Canadian personal and corporate tax legislation, provincial tax regimes, cross-border tax issues and tax planning strategies
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, business-owners, professionals, and multi-entity corporations
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, organized, able to manage multiple engagements and deadlines concurrently, with a strong sense of urgency and accuracy (consistent with 100+ Accounting’s standards)
  • Extensive experience in audit and review services, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and corporate policies
  • Proficiency with accounting and tax software (e.g., Intuit ProFile, CaseWare, TaxPrep), as well as Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with advanced tools/technology is an asset
  • Previous Trustee experience is considered an asset
  • Previous expert witness and forensic accounting experience is considered an asset

  • Experience with large public accounting firms is considered an asset.
  • Previous SRED application experience is regarded as an asset.
  • Previous government grant application experience is viewed as an asset. 
  • Previous Trustee experience is considered an asset
  • Prior startup experience is considered an asset.
  • Previous expert witness and forensic accounting experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with accounting for professionals such as engineers, medical doctors, pharmacists, and lawyers is considered an asset. 
  • Experience with international companies with Canadian and/or USA entities is considered a very valuable assets 
  • Previous work experience with the big 4 accounting firms in a similar position is considered an asset
